I’m a Chicago native living in Los Angeles, an incurable movie geek, a sometimes painter, and a possessor of useless knowledge. I have great affection for animals, books, unusual architecture, singer-songwriters, rainy days, and snowy nights.

I went to the Century City mall yesterday and discovered that they installed a lighting system in the parking garage that consists of a small bulb over the end of each parking space that lights up red if there’s a car parked there and green if it’s empty. It may sound stupid and unnecessary at first, but that garage is gigantic and poorly laid out and generally very full, so it’s actually really helpful to be able to look off into the distance down there and tell whether you need to even bother trolling a particular section for a space. It also gives the whole garage a really space-age-y feel. The pictures are poor quality because I took them with my phone, but I think you’ll get the idea.
